Dustin SelvaCreator of ELEMENTAL FLUTESCreating flutes and working with sound has become a major part of my life, catalyzed by the call to travel the world. This calling has lead me to many places outward and inward, finally leading me to the flute.
I was born in North Dakota where wind is an ever present occurrence. I worked outside walking the land as a land surveyor and enjoyed the wind passing over my being on a daily basis. Working with healing ceremonies with the Shipibo of the Peruvian Amazon and sound healing ceremonies on the Hawaiian Islands, the main theme in life that inspires me is the elements and especially the wind. Through the flute, I found a deepening connection with this element and all of the elements including Earth (wood, stones and animal hide), Fire (Burning the holes into the flute), Wind (Blowing into the flute), Water (As you play moisture will build in the flute) and Space (The space you play in). This is why I came up with the name Elemental Flutes and why I wish to share this instrument with you. Mahalo Nui Loa |
