Key and Frequency
Choosing the key is next. For beginners I recommend the keys of A, G or F#. These are great keys to learn on as the spacing of the holes on these flutes is close enough together not to strain your fingers and small enough to make covering the holes with the pads of your fingers easy.
Along with the Key you will need to decide which frequency you would like your flute tuned to - 440 or 432 Htz. 440 is ideal for those who would like to easily play with other people, as most instruments made today are tuned to 440 Htz. 432 Htz is a healing frequency in relationship to the schumann resonance or earths natural vibration. |

Choosing a Wood
After selecting a key and frequency, it is now time to choose your wood. The flute can be made in one single kind of wood or a combination of two or more woods. I source the Hawaiian woods from a friend on Maui - he is a furniture maker and reserves the offcuts (extras) of his projects for my use.
I also use local woods around NC, where I currently live. Hawaiian Woods available include: Koa and Mango. Local Woods include: Maple, Walnut, Camphor and Aromatic Cedar. To get a more information on each type of wood I offer, check out my Woods Page. |

Custom Order Single Bass Flutes
Custom Made Native American Style Flute
I craft each flute from my beautiful home in Western North Carolina, using nature as my inspiration through the design process. I really enjoy connecting with each person - getting to know them and working with them to bring their vision to life.
These flutes are made to order and will take about 10-12 weeks to complete to allow for oils to cure.
Below, I've listed different design options and stone possibilities for each of these extra features but feel free to include something different in the 'personal design ideas' box.
If there are any additions to the selected options below, I will connect with you to go over the price and make sure that we are both clear on your design idea.
I use all natural oil on my flutes with a final coat of an all natural wax that I create using Beeswax, Carnauba Wax, Tung Oil and a mix of essential oils.
Each flute comes with a simple flute bag made by my wife.
There are no returns or exchanges on custom orders.
Thank you and I look forward to connecting with you.
